The brief

• Produce a clean, exacting environment in keeping with a professional practice — the floor was expected to reinforce that character.
• Carry one consistent treatment across a large continuous area, holding colour and appearance uniform from open desking through corridors to private offices.
• Improve underfoot comfort and reduce footfall noise in an environment with constant movement and conversation.
• Handle heavy daily use and allow localised repair rather than wholesale replacement.

What was done

• Light grey covers the working areas, sitting with the white furniture, glazed partitions and timber detailing to keep the environment uncluttered.
• Running one uninterrupted treatment across the floor plays down internal boundaries — open desking, circulation and private offices read as one space.
• The pile takes the edge off a hard-surfaced interior and reduces the noise of people moving through it, which matters most in a practice where quiet is part of the work.
• Modular tiles keep installation and later maintenance straightforward without disturbing the overall effect.
